Vintage Fashion Week 2022 - we declare war on fast fashion!
Fast fashion can literally dress warmly - now vintage is the order of the day. And why shouldn't there also be a Vintage Fashion Week , in line with the trend of buying vintage fashion and sustainable fashion ? Stop - Vintage Fashion Week, what is it? You have never heard of this phenomenon? No wonder, because the project is also brand new! In the following we will explain to you what is behind it...
What is Vintage Fashion Week?
The Vintage Fashion Week is a newly founded project by German vintage stores and from February 21 to February 27, 2022, it will be fighting fast fashion for the first time. 13 well-known vintage online shops are joining forces, including Peeces, Vinokilo and Zeitgeist, and are offering over 230 partner campaigns and discounts .
The aim of the campaign: to show that clothing does not have to be re-produced in order to impress with its quality . On the contrary - vintage clothing is often of even higher quality!
Newly produced clothing nowadays mostly consists only of cotton or mixtures of cotton, elastane and similar fabrics. Vintage clothing is usually made of a slightly heavier and thicker fabric called "heavy cotton" that makes the clothing stronger and more durable.
The Vintage Fashion Week is intended to make a statement against fashion weeks of newly produced clothing, such as Glamor Fashion Week. No more fast fashion produced and consumed in excess and its fashion shows - now there should also be a fashion week for sustainable, long-lasting slow fashion!
Our mission - why second-hand fashion is sustainable!
We at Peeces are also part of the VFW! Together we want to increase awareness of second-hand fashion and sustainable fashion. Anyone who wears vintage not only shines with an individual style instead of fleeting trends and rocks pieces that nobody but you will wear, but also contributes, for example, to an enormous saving of water , which is used in large quantities in the production of new clothing (when buying a second-hand T-shirts approx. 700 liters of water). Not only water consumption is sustainably saved, but also electricity consumption and the CO₂ footprint. The waste behavior of clothing is also positively influenced, so less clothing is consumed in abundance, bought new and thrown away, which is unfortunately what characterizes our society today. The consumption of vintage fashion therefore offers many opportunities to make a contribution to protecting the environment .
